Add to the growing map
From 2019 until 2021 you will be able to add your feelings and stories to this interactive map. Browse the map to find out what others have shared, and what the connections are between you.
Public Events and Walks
There will be a series of Sense of Here events in late 2019 and through 2020, including public walks to suit a variety of preferences. Watch this space for details.
We’re delighted to be teaming up with the Wordsworth Trust to host residencies for artists in 2020, with an exhibition at the new Wordsworth Museum. Call outs and more details will follow.
Young People: Into the Outdoors
In 2020 there will be an opportunity for 16 young people from locations outside the national park in Cumbria to take part in a series of walks and overnight stays in the Lake District, and to work together to lead a gathering in Ambleside open to young people from across the UK. It’s extremely exciting to be hosting this in collaboration with the the University of Cumbria. The shape of this ‘conference’ about relationships with the outdoors will be determined by the people who take part …. watch this space.
Schools – getting out, getting creative
In 2020 Sense of Here will be linking with schools around Cumbria for days of outdoor exploration and creative response. We’ll be leading walks with plenty of room for children to be led by their curiosity and reflect on the sensory experience of being outdoors; along with this we’ll have conversations about the different elements that make up a landscape, and take inspiration from the natural world as well as visual art and poetry.
Your place, your story
If you live or work in the Lake District and have a story about something that inspires or concerns you, and you’d like to share it, please get in touch. As we walk around Cumbria through 2019, and hold events in 2020, we’d love to hear from you, meet you, and feature your story about your place.
Visit the exhibition, read the book
In 2020 the Sense of Here exhibition will be launching, and there will be a book. We’re looking forward to sharing these.
