Sense of Here is about gathering views and bringing different points of view together. We were delighted to receive seed funding from Great Place: Lakes and Dales to support a residency for four creative people. They met curators at the Wordsworth Trust and Grizedale Forest and joined us for creative reflection on the Lake District.
This 4-day residency was an invitation to artists age 18-35 from the South Lakes and Craven regions to reflect on place through their own creative media. The residency took place in September 2019.

Background
The South Lakes and Craven regions have a rich and diverse pool of artistic talent; we want to celebrate this and strengthen networks between artists, while exploring current-day views about our distinct landscapes and resident communities.
The residency was a chance to experience the Lake District landscape with new perspectives, to share insights and methods, to learn from curators and other artists, to receive mentoring, and to kindle new collaborations.
Award recipients were hosted for three nights, with mentoring and guidance for three days. As part of the opportunity they received a £500 payment to produce work; plans were to co-curate an exhibition with residents from a second residency, at the Wordsworth Museum in the autumn of 2020, but lockdown has put everything on hold.
A call out for the 2020 residency was due to be made in April/May 2020. Due to the impact of Corona Virus (Covid-19) this will now be rescheduled, with dates to be announced when circumstances allow.
