Sense of Here is about gathering views and bringing different points of view together. We’re delighted to have been awarded seed funding from Great Place: Lakes and Dales to support a residency for four creative people. They will meet curators at the Wordsworth Trust and Grizedale Forest and join us for creative reflection on the Lake District. If you’re interested, or indeed know someone who is, please share the opportunity!
This 4-day residency is an invitation to artists age 18-35 from the South Lakes and Craven regions to reflect on place through their own creative media. The residency will take place in September 2019, with work to be produced by December 2019.
The South Lakes and Craven regions have a rich and diverse pool of artistic talent; we want to celebrate this and strengthen networks between artists, while exploring current-day views about our distinct landscapes and resident communities.
This is a chance to experience the Lake District landscape with new perspectives, to share insights and methods, to learn from curators and other artists, to receive mentoring, and to kindle new collaborations.
Award recipients will be hosted for three nights, with mentoring and guidance for three days. As part of the opportunity they will also be given a £500 payment to produce work and they will co-curate an exhibition that will include their work at the Wordsworth Museum in the autumn of 2020.
This residency has now taken place. It was brilliant! Have a read through some of the blogs here.
A call out for the 2020 residency was due to be made in April/May 2020. Due to the impact of Corona Virus (Covid-19) this will now be rescheduled, with dates to be announced when circumstances allow.
